Big brother?

Holy cow! Who’s that fine young fellow on CTV’s Power Play?

That’s right. They invited me to the national airwaves (or, cablewaves) today to talk about the BC NDP’s leadership questionnaire which asks candidates to disclose the usernames and passwords of their social media accounts. It only occurs to me now that, on top of everything I’ve said and written on the topic, the NDP party is asking candidates to violate the terms of use agreements (read: civil contracts) with social media service providers.

For your reference, Facebook‘s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities section 4 (Registration and Account Security) item 8 reads You will not share your password, (or in the case of developers, your secret key), let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.

Your interview was very good Mark, you held up very well. Well done for sticking to your guns and not being initimidated and saying what you felt needed to be said. It’s bizarre that a political party wants userid’s and passwords for its candidates. That same political party would probably scream loud and long about privacy concerns etc, but isn’t prepared to trust the people who put their names forward. Hope that the weather is getting warmer there. I just saw some of CC’s pictures of Logan/Boston, and good grief Charlie Brown, ‘it’s cold outside’. n
