Conference Saturdays: Rethinking America’s military strategy

A couple of days ago I noted social media have entered their third act of 2012. I title the act “War Porn”, inspired by a few tweets commenting on the propaganda war between Israel and Hamas that’s playing out online.

I had the privilege of speaking about that online battle with Dan Matheson on CTV News Channel’s Morning Express and then again with Don Martin on Power Play (both yesterday). The challenge in both of those appearances was keeping myself concise and limiting the number of themes to explore. There’s no shortage.

All of this talk about the conflict in the Middle East this week reminded me of a fascinating TED Talk by Thomas Barnett. In it he explores a new structure for military organizations — for the US in particular.
