It’s Canadian Thanksgiving, today. Which means there are a whole bunch of Canadian social media folk publishing their thank you lists. I find that as sincere as they may all be, the lists very quickly start to look the same — public declarations of love for family and friends.
I believe it goes without saying we’re all thankful for the people who are close to us.
Rather than rattle off a list of names (you all know who you are), I thought I’d stir the pot by sharing something that may be viewed as a bit selfish. Actually, as I think about it, all thanks are about acknowledging something we have for our selves.
You see, I don’t recall a time I’ve really expressed how thankful I am for my skills, talents, opportunities, creativity and — above all — my curiosity. Life would be stagnant if I weren’t curious; if I weren’t interested in learning more or digging deeper and wider into whatever I came across; if I didn’t wonder how “scary” and rewarding life would be as a husband and father; if I didn’t try to create communities of interest with people from around the world whom I’ve never met (and may never have).
If I didn’t wonder if I was capable of cooking a turkey or what would happen if I changed a recipe.
Happy thanksgiving to you and yours. I hope you’re surrounded by your loved ones, today. And that we never stop being curious.
