What are people talking about in Manitoba, Ontario and PEI?

Here’s what people have been talking about — ONLINE — in the Manitoba, Ontario and PEI elections over the last 48 hours. My analysis was performed using Sysomos Heartbeat.

Manitoba

Twitter dominates a fairly calm online landscape. The Canadian Wheat Board’s plebiscite dominates online traffic in the Manitoba election. The most active tweeters are @blumenthal5 and @winnipegfatarse (who provided entertaining commentary during the federal election).

Ontario

One of the challenges of tracking the online component of the Ontario election is that the volume of traffic predetermines there are many conversations on a variety of topics. Basically, there isn’t much that’s not being talked about online (Hey! Watch those double-negatives!). Having said that, the Liberal plan to provide a $10,000 tax credit for businesses and the open sparring that followed (particularly Dalton McGuinty’s call for an apology from Tim Hudak) has accounted for a good deal of online traffic.

Prince Edward Island

Traffic was too light to create a meaningful buzzgraph. Fortunately, it was light enough that I was able to review traffic and it was mostly praising Conservative Party leader Olive Crane for announcing the province will pay for diabetic strips. By the way, @JakeAReid and @PEILiberalWire are the most active tweeters.
